i thought i should also add to this update the reason that this entry says final update.

according to boxoffice.mojo Ninija Assassin is no longer being monitored. however, the film
once again ended in the post popular catagory at #25 in the list of 60.
the most popular ranking is because of the amount of clicks indicating the interest that was received for the film.

NEWS UPDATE: i monitored boxofc. mojo from the 14th until yesterday before posting results.
i also stated "according to boxofc NA was no longer being tracked". there were no numbers reported from the 14th until the 19th.

on a whim, i went back to the site AND GUESS WHAT?? all 5 days, (previously blank) have generated income posted for Ninja Assassin. hummmmm (do the numbers LOOK larger??) that's because on 1/15 more screens were added showing the film. from 101 to 206.

All I really wanted was for the movie to at least break even (not come in under what it was supposedly made for), and by the looks of this, it has. If the 40 million dollar budget is correct, that means Ninja Assassin made a 20 million dollar profit, and that's pretty darned good for a first time unknown lead actor.

And I don't think any numbers for the rights to DVDs, TV, etc. have been posted yet, have they? That's even more profit.

no, this does not include any DVD sales. only boxoffice receipts. we are informed that NA has been released in Germany on DVD, but no place else yet and those sales have not been reported at last check.

yep, considering that this was an R-rated film, for 18 yrs.+(which left out a lot of Rain's fans) and, was screened in less theaters, it is definately already a success. the production budget was reported to have been $40mil and the marketing and publicity $10mil for a total of $50 mil to bring to the big screen. what i really like, is that the average movie goers have maintained this film with a rating of B. SO YES, A SUCCESS FOR Rain, Fans and Ninja Assassin and it's not over yet. hahaha
